Release Notes:
Farigliano is extremely difficult to find in the Langhe. Farigliano has only 35 people living there so that explains why it is not on most maps. Anna Maria Abbona has all her vineyards in Farigliano and her popularity continues to grow in Italy. Her wines can be found on many lists of good restaurants and she deserves that popularity.
Above: Vines of Cado (Anna Maria Abbona).
Caḍ is Anna Maria’s best wine. It is a blend of old Barbera vines with a small proportion of her best Dolcetto. The Barbera here is planted on the north side, and it was the wine that the grower made for himself since he sold the Dolcetto for a living.
Every year, the Caḍ of Anna Maria is rich and full of aromas of cassis, oranges... and it is very concentrated. The wine should be sold at $25/bottle, but we offer it here at a promotional price so that people can try this great wine.
Caḍ, which means "gift" in Piemontese dialect, can be kept 4 to 5 years. It will develop deeper aromas and be even better. Try some bottles of Caḍ; you will not regret it.
Tasting Notes:
Extremely concentrated, black with a nose of cassis and orange peel. Medium-bodied with delicious aromas of well ripened grapes. Delicious finale of 15 seconds, with strong aromas, but never bad. Wine to drink with strong dishes, red meat, and barbecues; good with pork or with strong cheeses.
