The quintessence of Rioja Tinto: versatile and easy-drinking. Aged 6 months in oak and perfect with barbecues, chicken or red meat.
|
Release Notes:
Almagre Rioja is Vina Ijalba's least expensive wine, a Tinto with 6 months aging in American oak. It is a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Mazuelo (the local name for Carignan). The vines are more than 12 years old. After harvest, the grapes undergo a long 20-day maceration that gives the wine its good fruit concentration.
This wine has benefited from a year’s bottle aging and shows very well now. A great everyday Spanish wine and a fantastic value for a wine from Rioja!
Tasting Notes:
A vibrant garnet colored wine with beautiful aromas of red fruit, spice, oranges with a hint of leather and oak. Medium-bodied across the palate with good complexity, layers of fruit and spices and excellent balance leading to a rich finish. It can age for 2 to 3 more years, but is an excellent everyday wine now. Perfectly versatile. Try it with barbecues, chicken, turkey, lamb, or red meat.
