Chile’s Rise to prominence dates to 1978 when Spain’s Miguel Torres declared the country “a viticultural paradise” before investing in the Curico Valley. Now, thirty years later, Chile is one of the leading wine exporters thanks to its climate, which suits Cabernet and, especially, Merlot so well. The Martin family has been growing grapes in Curico since the 1920s. Their fresh and fruity Andes Terra Merlot is one of our best values of the year.
Tasting Notes:
An intense red colored wine with a rich nose of cherries, red berries, spice and even mint. Soft, supple, and easy-drinking, this Merlot has the blend of lush red fruit, mint and herbs that has established Chilean Merlot as one of the best the world over. A complex wine for the price, it finishes cleanly on fresh fruit. The perfect accompaniment to a variety of red meat dishes, stews, pastas and cheeses; drink now to 2009.
