Release Notes:
A blend of power and finesse, the 2000 Batard is a monumental wine with depth, complexity, and great length. It was fined, but not filtered and was aged in 50% new oak barrels; literally 1 new and 1 old... that's how small the production is. Delicious now, but will improve with age if you are patient and have a good cellar.
Tasting Notes:
Beautiful gold color. Great aromas of citrus, apple, and apricot with a spiced/candied fruit tang. A full-bodied wine with excellent mouthfeel, depth, and finesse; not at all flabby or hot. Intriguing and complex palate with hints of nut and citrus. Develops in the glass after opening. Will age nicely for 5 to 8 years. Serve with the very finest repasts like goose, duck, and foie gras.
