Release Notes:
A new wine from esteemed producer Ca’ del Baio, Bric del Baio is a Langhe Nebbiolo DOC made from 100% Nebbiolo. While the family is most famous for its other Nebbiolo wines, the excellent Barbarescos, the Grassos use grapes from their youngest Nebbiolo vines, grown in the marl-limestone soils of their Treiso and Barbaresco vineyards, to produce this smooth red. The resulting wine is aged for nine months in Slovenian oak barrels and barriques.
Tasting Notes:
A garnet colored wine with a hint of orange. On the nose, strawberry, cranberry, and Bing cherry aromas are melded with attractive spice and cedar notes. The palate is full of ripe red berry fruit, violet, and rose petal flavors. Medium bodied and very smooth with fine tannins and a long, balanced finish. Truly a baby Barbaresco. Serve with lamb, beef tenderloin, mushrooms, game or cheese – especially Fontina. Drink now to 2010.
