Release Notes:
Wooded Chardonnay is a term used in Australia and South African to distinguish oak-matured Chardonnays from their unoaked counterparts. Cape Haven's example is a very light-oaked one; the majority of the wine ages on its lees for 2 months after fermentation while a small portion is matured with French Oak. The resulting wine strikes a balance between citrus and exotic fruit flavors and those of vanilla and oak.
Tasting Notes:
A pale golden colored wine with an attractive melon, citrus, fig and peach nose. On the palate, these flavors are rounded out by green melon and tropical fruit notes as well as some smooth vanilla. A rich dry wine that has a rather long finish. This white is a food wine – try it with a heavier fare like duck, swordfish or pasta with cream sauce.
