Release Notes:
The Château has a small, 12-acre vineyard planted with 30 year-old vines on gravelly soil. Production is very limited with fewer than 2000 cases produced per year. Like so many other Pomerol’s and Saint Emilion, the 2001 vintage is a predominantly Merlot (85%) with a small amount of Cabernet France (10%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%) added to the blend. The wine spent a year in oak with 50% in new oak and 50% in one year-old barrels. Tasting Notes:Dark cherry red color. Expressive nose of red fruit. Good body and intensity with a rich silky finish. Well-balanced with round, soft tannins. Can age up to 5 more years. Great with grilled meats, game, duck, cheeses, or coq au vin.
