Release Notes:
Les Hautes Terres is is a 70:30 blend of Grenache and Syrah made from grapes from their best vineyard. The yields are extremely low (25 hl/ha or below) leading to an immense concentration of flavor. The wine is aged in oak barrels (50% new) for 12 months. 2003 was an incredibly hot vintage all across Europe and this wine is incredibly potent. A Gold Medalist at the 2005 Concours Interregional des Vin Biologiques (Organic).
Tasting Notes:
Beautiful deep garnet red color. Complex nose of toast, incense, spice, and red fruits. Full-bodied with lots of structure and herb flavors. A pepper and spice finish. Can age for 8 to 10 years. Serve with foie gras, grilled meats, game, mushrooms, or roasted vegetables. Decant, to let breathe, an hour before serving.
