A medium-bodied Beaujolais, bigger than a typical Beaujolais-Villages, this is a greatfood wine, with enough personality and character to accompany almost any dish, yet not so much that it dominates the meal.

Regnié is one of the 10 crus of Beaujolais – a designation of appellation status that is awarded only to those villages that have produced a consistently high-quality product, thereby separating them from the more common Beaujolais-Villages. Chateau du Basty’s vineyards lie mid-hill with perfect exposure. Their comes from a vineyard planted with 32-year old Gamay vines, which thrive in the granite soils.

Tasting Notes:

A beautiful, vibrant purple-red colored wine with a spicy nose of cherries, raspberries, and baked fruits. On the palate, Regnié is bigger and more full-bodied than a Beaujolais-Villages, with complexity and tannins that give it aging potential. It is medium-bodied and round with delicious sensations of ripe fruit, balanced with just the right amount of acidity. Can be slightly chilled. Food friendly - ideal for picnics or lunches on warm fall days. Can be cellared 4 or 5 years.
