La Moulinière Rouge is a great, inexpensive Bordeaux made with 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon from vines grown on sandy soils near the Dordogne river. The grapes undergo a long, two-week maceration period, which leads to a wine with plentiful amounts of red fruit flavors and a fruity, pleasant finish. This wine has been named one of the world’s greatest red wine values and is a particularly good 2004. Château La Moulinière is the second label of Château Cadillac Lesgourgues.

Tasting Notes:

A wine with a deep red color and a developed nose of cassis, raspberry and cherry. It is very fruity in the mouth with fresh red fruit and earthy spice flavors leading to a nice, long finish. A very approachable and versatile wine thanks to the Merlot, but the smooth tannins give it staying power. Perfect with grilled meats, burgers, cheeses, and lamb. Can keep until 2008-2009.
