This Bardolino is the classic local red of Verona that is perfect with Italian food or lighter fare.

Release Notes:
Bardolino is dominated by large commercial producers who make banal, characterless wines. There are only a dozen or so smaller producers who still tend low-yielding hillside vineyards and make inspired light red wines from Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara. The Fabiano family’s Corte Marzago is one of these select few, cultivating their vines on the hills near the south eastern shore of the fabled Lago di Garda and using the latest organic vineyard practices to produce exceptional wines. Despite using the same grapes as neighboring Valpolicalla, this unique microclimate yields deliciously fragrant wines with ephemeral cherry fruit flavors.
Tasting Notes:
A pale ruby colored wine with alluring floral, red berry and, especially, cherry aromas. The core of red cherry fruit continues across the soft and smooth palate. There is a touch of black pepper and anise before the round, spicy finish. Like a good Beaujolais, this wine is not too complex, but it is stunningly good. It is perfect for salami, risotto, white meat and pasta dishes. Drink now to 2009.
