Release Notes:
Montepulciano, renowned during the Renaissance for its artists, has also built a reputation for its wines. Vino Nobile di Montepulciano became the first wine to be granted as DOCG, the best wine appellation in Italy. Located in the heart of the Vino Nobile area, the Crociani Estate covers 25 acres primarily consisted of red varieties. This wine is a blend of Prugnolo Gentile, a local clone of Sangiovese (75%), Canaiolo Nero (15%) and Mammolo (10%). The grapes are hand-harvested, and after a traditional vinification the juice is aged in oak barrels for 7-8 months.
Tasting Notes:
A bright ruby colored wine with a bouquet of red fruit and flowers aromas in the nose. Fruity and complex in the mouth, this is a classic Montepulciano with well-integrated tannins, and a long red fruit finish. It will match nicely with pasta with meat sauce, red meats and roast chicken. Drink now to 2012.
