Release Notes:
Touraine is a vast and varied appellation in the center of the Loire Valley. Many ordinary wines are produced here, but some small producers, like Domaine Vauvy are capable of turning out very good wines. The Vauvy vineyards are near the Cher River, 25 miles west of Sancerre, France’s most famous spot for Sauvignon Blanc. Michel Vauvy takes care to preserve Sauvignon’s fresh and invigorating character in his wines. The 2006 is surprisingly opulent with good zesty acidity well in harmony with the fruit. Tasting Notes:This Sauvignon has inviting melon, apricot, floral and mineral aromas. On the palate, the fresh fruit sensations continue – the combination of peach, pear, apple and tropical fruit notes is complemented by honeyed richness. This medium bodied wine closes with a smooth, crisp finish with surprising depth. Serve with salmon, trout, shellfish, goat cheese, or salad now to 2009. Similar Wines
