From perennial favorite, Domaine Puech Cocut, our latest discovery, their lightly-oaked Chardonnay.
|
Release Notes:
The estate grows 11 different grape varieties on 250 acres near the River Orb. While their reds have been hugely popular, we have only recently discovered their delightful Chardonnay. It comes from a pebbly vineyard grown on alluvial soil. Once harvested, the grapes undergo temperature-controlled fermentation before a portion of the wine is aged in oak. The resulting wine is a lovely, ripe, fruity Chardonnay with grapefruit aromas, a crisp backbone, and touches of oak.
Tasting Notes:
This wine has a very attractive nose of melon, citrus, and peach aromas. It has a round and fruity attack that develops into citrus, tropical fruit, and floral flavors on the palate before a very refreshing finish. An easy-drinking wine to be enjoyed with salads, fish, poultry, or as an aperitif. Ready to drink now through 2009.
