Release Notes:
Domaine Puech Cocut is part of the Château Raissac estate, near Béziers, in the heart of the Languedoc. Unlike many of its neighbors who have just planted Pinot Noir for 15 years now; they have mastered the art of producing balanced wines in the warm Languedoc climate that many thought was too hot for this finicky grape variety. The grape's juice is fermented at a low temperature without any skin contact creating a white wine. once this fermentation is complete, additional juice that remained in contact with the pressed skins is reincorporated into the blend giving the wine its attractive red color without imparting too much tannin or alcohol.
Tasting Notes:
A medium ruby colored wine with an attractive nose of cherries, red berries, earth, and even a hint of mint. In the mouth, this Pinot is well-balanced with red cherry, raspberry, and blackcurrant flavors. Surprisingly fresh and smooth with soft tannins, this wine has a medium finish on fruit. Ideal with chicken, lamb salads, grilled vegetables or as an aperitif. Drink now to 2009.
