Release Notes:
Monks were the firsts to plant vines in Clos de Vougeot in the 12th century. Today, Clos de Vougeot is the largest grand cru area in Burgundy and the vineyard is shared between 80 owners. Located at the top part of the Clos de Vougeot, “Le Petit Maupertuis” – one of the most prestigious parcel – belongs to the Domaine d’Ardhuy. The vines are 35 years old, grown in limestone, clay and stone soils. The grapes were hand harvested, the juice was then fermented in French oak barrels (50% new) for 18 months. This is a limited production wine, only 200 cases are released each year.
Tasting Notes:
Beautiful ruby color with a hint of purple. Complex nose of flowers (peony), blackberries, followed by a gentle woody aroma. A rich mouthfeel, and an intensity from start to finish are its hallmarks. Almost overwhelming! Enjoy with poultry, ham, grilled red meats, salmon or rich cheeses. Drink now to 2022.
