1,300 years ago the Holy Roman Emperor, Charlemagne, owned the city of Corton, and today, it produces the most prestigious white Burgundy. The grapes for this wine are from 40-year-old vines grown in limestone atop pearly flagstone soils. The grapes were hand harvested, and the juice was then fermented in French oak barrels (50% new) for 18 months and matured on lees for another year. The barrels were carefully chosen to maintain the mineral flavors.

Tasting Notes:

This bright gold colored Grand Cru offers a beautiful bouquet of white flowers, citrus, grapefruit, and apricots aromas layered by some nuts and mocha flavors. Exceptionally dense and rich, this Burgundy is powerful and refreshing at the same time, with a nice minerality characteristic of the area. It will age nicely for 10 to 15 years, and should be enjoyed with the very finest dishes like goose, duck, and foie gras.
