Release Notes:
Once a property of the Langres Cathedral, since the 11th century, Clos des Langres has been recognized for the quality of its products since the 11th century. This is a beautiful, single-vineyard cru from the Côte de Nuits. Grown in limestone atop pearly flagstone soils, the low-yielding Chardonnay vines were grafted onto Pinot Noir roots planted in 1992. The grapes were hand harvested, the juice was then fermented in French oak barrels (one third new), before spending a year maturing on lees. Tasting Notes:Golden colored wine with a ripe and expressive nose of fresh orchard fruit, straw, citrus and earth. Medium-bodied with a rich and lively mid-palate and a fine finish. Winery:Domaine d’Ardhuy is our favorite new discovery from Burgundy. Last winter, we met with the winemaker, Carl, to taste barrel samples of their superb 2005 Burgundies and were very impressed....
