Release Notes:
This wine is made from grapes from 50-year-old vines grown in stony limestone and clay soil. The vineyard enjoys a southern exposure ideal for the maturation of the berries. The wine was vinified in French oak barrels for a year. The oak is carefully chosen from two distinctives forests, from Allier to bring an aromatic touch and from Nevers to develop the structure. Tasting Notes:Intense bright ruby color. A complex nose with aromas of wild raspberries, flowers, spice and earth. Well-rounded and balanced with great finesse, this wine is still young and will develop nicely until 2013. Ideal with game, red meats, and mushrooms. Winery:Domaine d’Ardhuy is our favorite new discovery from Burgundy. Last winter, we met with the winemaker, Carl, to taste barrel samples of their superb 2005 Burgundies and were very impressed....
