Release Notes:
Domaine de la Buissonne is one of the Côtes du Rhône’s finest small producers. Their 95 acres of vineyards have produced wine since Roman times. The current owner, Monsieur Jourdan, comes from a family that has been making wine in the Rhône valley since 1865. Unlike many more famous brands of Côtes du Rhône, which purchase grapes and wines in bulk, the Jourdan family grows all of the grapes that go into their wines. Their attention to detail is apparent in the glass; this beautiful Côtes du Rhône is a blend of Grenache (80%), Cinsault (10%), Syrah (5%) and Carignan (5%) from 25 year old vines.
Tasting Notes:
A beautiful, bright cherry red colored wine with an interesting nose of black cherry fruit from the Grenache. It is well-balanced and fruity with flavors of blackcurrant and raspberry jam leading up to a complex finish. A great summer wine, Côtes du Rhône is ideal with stronger meat dishes like sausages or pepper steak, Shepard’s pie, casseroles, sandwiches and grilled meats. Good to drink now through the end of 2008.
