An age-worthy Chenin Blanc from the Saumur region of France's Loire Valley. Good fruit and acidity, a refreshing wine.
|
Release Notes:
The Chenin vines for this cuvee are more
than 35 years old. Just as 2005 produced exceptional wines in other areas of France, here it produced a hot and dry vintage with fully ripened grapes and excellent aromatics.
Tasting Notes:
This Saumur has a rich nose of stone fruit, citrus, pear and fresh cut hay. In the mouth, peach, apricot, nectarine, and citrus flavors explode on the palate and are complemented by a mineral structure, balanced acidity, and a refreshing finish on spice. Perfect as an aperitif or served with salads, barbecued chicken, grilled salmon, fish with butter sauce, and seafood pasta. Chenin Blancs can age majestically – this
example can be cellared until 2025!
Winery:
Saumur lies in Anjou, at the center of the
Loire Valley. For white wines, this is Chenin
Blanc country and this versatile and age-worthy
white grape produces the attractive and refreshing
