Release Notes:
ALIGOTÉ is Burgundy’s other white grape. Difficult to grow, intolerant of oak aging and higher in acidity than Chardonnay, it is rarely exported. However, the crisp and aromatic Aligoté yields refreshing wines that are better aperitifs and accompaniments to salty, spicy, and fatty foods than many unoaked Chardonnay. This example comes from Domaine des Remparts, one of the best small, family producers in Saint Bris. Take advantage of this opportunity to try this unique white wine. Aligoté is also traditionally used to make the famous Kir aperitif. Combine a tablespoon of crème de cassis with Aligote in a white wine glass and enjoy! Tasting Notes:A light gold-green colored wine with white flower, fresh green apple and citrus aromas. On the palate, it is crisp with vivid lemon, tart green apple, and grape flavors. Supple with good minerality and a long, pleasant finish. Enjoy as an aperitif, a Kir cocktail, or with charcuterie, mussels, shrimp, salads, escargots and spicy ethnic cuisine. Aligoté should be enjoyed while fresh: drink now to 2009. Similar Wines
