Release Notes:
Husch Pinot Noir comes from vineyards on alluvial and clay soils. Since Anderson Valley is one of northern California’s few east-west oriented valleys, it enjoys cool nights and morning fog off the Pacific Ocean. The large daily temperature swings prolong the growing season and add additional flavor complexity to the grapes. After a careful harvest by hand, the Pinot Noir grapes are placed in an open-top fermenter before being aged in French oak (25% new) for 10 months. The 2006 has particularly bright acidity and silky texture since it was a cooler than average vintage.
Tasting Notes:A pale ruby colored wine with aromas of bing cherry, plum, toast, vanilla, and leather. On the palate, raspberry and sweet cherry fruit flavors are complemented by spice (cinnamon, vanilla and clove)and toast flavors. This concentrated and balanced Pinot Noir has a long refreshing finish. Serve with lamb, veal, roast chicken, grilled salmon and mushrooms. Enjoy now through 2014.
