Release Notes:
Husch Chardonnay is a blend of grapes from cool weather and warm weather vineyards. The fruit from the warmer La Ribera Vineyards provides vibrant flavors while the cooler Anderson Valley fruit provides more delicate components, nuance and structure. The wine is 90% barrel fermented in 14% new oak barrels and then left on the lees and aged for 8 months in French, Hungarian and American oak barrels. Uniquely, only 15% of the blend was allowed to go through malolactic fermentation so the wine retains its natural bright fruit flavors.
Tasting Notes:
A medium lemon colored wine with intense aromas of lemon, red apple, honey, apricot, toasted oak and nuts. On the palate, citrus, melon and pear flavors are complemented by smooth and restrained butter,
vanilla, clove and spice notes – a sign of judicious oak aging. The crisp acidity, round, lush mouth-feel and balanced alcohol lead into a long, clean finish. This Chardonnay is ideal with grilled fish and grilled chicken and will also pair well with lobster, salmon, pork and veal. Enjoy now through 2011.
