Release Notes:
This rich, complex and elegant Chianti Classico Riserva comes from Il Molino di Grace, one of the top 100 wineries of the year. While only a little more than a decade old, Il Molino di Grace has earned high praise for its wines, including this wine, which received 3 Bicchieri, the highest award, from the Gambero Rosso (one of only 240 selected from a pool of more than 14,000 wines). The grapes come from a strict selection of their oldest and lowest-yielding parcels and the resulting wine spends 12 months in oak (both French barrels and Slavonian casks). We also have limited quantities of their Chianti Classico 2003 and Gratius 2003 available for $19.75 and $49.00 a bottle, respectively.
Tasting Notes:
An intense, ruby red color leads to a beautiful nose of red fruits, cherry jam, herbs and hints of black pepper and spice (cinnamon and cloves). The beautiful, full palate is well-structured and complex with rich flavors of ripe cherries, spice, bramble, and cocoa. The tannins are balanced an the finish is long and complex - an amazing Chianti. You can drink this now, or let it develop tertiary flavors and complexity through 2009. Pairs well with duck, lamb, steak, roasts, or aged cheeses such as Parmesan.
