Release Notes:
This merlot is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel to preserve the fruit flavors and aromas and it remains one of California’s most
important varieties. Kinderwood’s Merlot
comes from the Paso Robles region, south of
Monterey. The area, named for El Paso de Robles,
the pass of the oaks, had its first vineyards planted by Spanish missionaries in the 18th century. Separated by mountains from the influence of the ocean and warmer than most of the Central
Coast, Paso Robles is best suited for producing soft, fruity reds with gentle tannins like this smooth Merlot.
Tasting Notes:
A deep ruby colored wine with a fragrant nose of ripe blackberry and spice aromas. On the palate this wine delivers ripe jammy fruit flavors (berries, plums and black currants) as well as some earth and herb notes typical of California Merlot. The wine has a smooth, silky mouthfeel, low tannins and a pleasant finish on fruit. Drink now to 2009 with lamb chops, chicken (grilled or roasted), steak, pizza, or burgers.
