Many drinkers of Rhône wine buy Gigondas instead of Chateauneuf du Pape. Gigondas has the same varietals as Chateauneuf: Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah but is generally less expensive. This wine has a good harmony, balance, and an elegance that you always find in the wines of Guy Daniel. As concentrated as a good Chateauneuf! Tasting Notes:Very concentrated, very dark color. Medium-bodied with ripe fruit. Long finish and with a good harmony. Smooth tannins and shows elegance. Ideal with barbecues, roasts, and with red meats. Gigondas can age 5 to 8 years.
