The Le Gode estate is a small modern farm. The Ripaccioli family have only been making wine for 16 years, and have already made a name for themselves thanks to a blend of traditional winemaking philosophy and modern technology. Rosso di Montalcino comes from the same vineyards as its big brother, Brunello, and is also made from 100% Sangiovese. However, it spends just 7 months in small oak barrels. The wine is enjoyable younger, capturing the dark intensity of the local Sangiovese Grosso and putting in a more approachable and affordable package.

Tasting Notes:

An intensely brilliant ruby colored wine with evocative fresh fruit, dried flower petal, mushroom and herb aromas. In the mouth, this full-bodied wine balances dark cherry, plum, anise and spice notes with power, structure and soft, firm tannins leading up to a very long spicy finish. A truly exceptional Rosso di Montalcino that will continue to develop until 2014. Enjoy it with game, lambs chops, pasts with meat sauce, grilled steak, and aged chesses.
