Release Notes:
Le Rosé de Clarke is a rosé de saigné: after harvest, the grapes’ juice is allowed to macerate on the red skins very briefly to impart a beautiful tint to the wine. Bordeaux rosé has made enormous strides over the past decade, and today Clarke’s is one of the very best:
fresh and juicy while still maintaining the elegance that epitomizes
Château Clarke.
The 2007 growing season was hotter and drier than average, with hot weather in June and July followed by a wetter, cooler August, before temperatures took off once more in the first part of September. 2007 was a surprisingly good year that has been overshadowed by the remarkable 2005s. High quality, affordable wines are out there, like this powerful, concentrated rose from Le Rose de Clarke.
Tasting Notes:
A strawberry red colored wine with dark berry (blackberry), cherry, floral and spice aromas. On the palate, soft fruit flavors of wild strawberry and cherry (from the Merlot) combine with zesty spicy pepper notes (from the Cabernet Franc) to produce an elegant rosé with complexity, concentration and a clean, refreshing mineral finish. This impressive rosé is perfect as an outdoor aperitif or served with grilled meats, salads, pasta, seafood, and sandwiches.
