Release Notes:
Amarone sits at the pinnacle of the hierarchy of Valpolicella wines. The grapes are picked and then allowed to dry for three to four months via the appassimento process. This concentrates the flavors and sugars in the juice and produces powerful dry wines with stunning complexity. Marchesi di Biscardo’s Amarone comes from the Valpolicella Classico region, home of the original (and best) vineyards surrounding the city of Verona. A blend of Corvina (70%), Rondinella (20%), and Molinara (10%), it is aged for 18 months in Slovenian oak barrels before release.
Tasting Notes:
A deep garnet red colored wine with orange highlights. The refined nose has an array of aromas from ripe cherry, dried plum and cassis to pepper, earth and spice. A classic Amarone palate with big raisin,
plum, earth, chocolate, leather and dried grass flavors, lots of complexity and a concentrated finish on orange peel and
spice. This formidable full-bodied wine has the acidity and light tannins to age for another 5 to 10 years. Ideal with
lamb, steak, ribs, game, or aged cheeses.
