Release Notes:
Pinot noir is the only red grape allowed in Alsace. It is very different from Burgundian Pinot Noir because the climate and granite/marl soil mixture of Alsace produce grapes with thinner skins. This produces a wonderful, light red Alsatian Pinot Noir, which is one of the most pleasant, food-friendly summer and autumn wines. Despite being quite far north, Alsace is the driest part of France, and enjoys plentiful sunshine and beautiful autumns thanks to the Vosges Mountains, which protect the area from the maritime influence of the Atlantic Ocean.
Tasting Notes:
A beautiful bright strawberry cherry color – between a Burgundy Pinot Noir and a rosé in color. Fresh red berry and fruit aromas abound on the nose. An extremely fruity Pinot Noir with good balance, depth and structure and a great clean finish with soft tannins. A very versatile food wine that can be served slightly chilled. An excellent wine for picnics and entertaining, it will complement salads, pâtés, cold cuts, sandwiches, goat cheese, chicken, and even game. Drink now to 2009.
