A powerful and fruity Australian Chard with a touch of fine, French oak. Pure elegance.
|
Release Notes:
Planted on a ridge of gravelly loam over clay less than 3km from the Indian Ocean, Redgate’s Chardonnay is both elegant and fruity. The fruit was hand picked in the cool of the morning to prevent oxidation of the juice and retain the primary fruit flavors. After temperature-controlled fermentation, the wine was then racked in new French Allier barrels for 10 months, with periodic stirring to add complexity before being blended and bottled in early 2006.
Tasting Notes:
The color of pale straw with golden highlights, this wine offers lovely aromas of ripe peach, pear and citrus fruits with a hint of vanilla. In the mouth, the wine offers subtle stone fruit flavors with some toffee and butterscotch from the oak and a lovely clean finish. This wine is ready to drink now, but can be cellared through 2010; serve it with lobster, chicken, tuna, and salads.
