Release Notes:
Selva del Moro or “Forest of the Moor,” is the local name of the woods and dramatic gorges that surround Casale dello Sparviero’s vineyards.
Selva del Moro Chianti Classico is made from Sangiovese (80%) rounded out by Canaiolo (20%). Harvested in mid-September, the grapes are vinified traditionally and then aged in stainless steel for 6 months followed by an additional 6 months in oak casks and at least 6 more months in bottle. A balanced Chianti made for drinking young - a fantastic value.
Tasting Notes:
This bright ruby-colored wine has very pleasant red fruit, wild berry, violet and licorice aromas. It is full-bodied, round and easy-drinking with layers of succulent red-berry fruit, earthiness, wood spice and moderate complexity before a soft finish. This is the perfect wine for Italian fare (pizza and pasta), grilled meat, sausages, or cold cuts. Drink now to 2012.
