This biodynamically-cultivated Brunello is great for big dishes--just don't confuse Signor Sesti's winery with the Banfi one next door.

Release Notes:
Brunello is a close cousin of modern-day Sangiovese. The 1998 release was 100% aged in oak barrels and estate bottled. 1998 was a very dry year so wines in Brunello suffered, but Signor Sesti picked the grapes when ripe and produced great Brunello.
Tasting Notes:
Sustained ruby/garnet color; powerful berry fruit of good ripeness; aromas of herbs, chocolate, plums and tar. Full-bodied with multilayers and a thick texture dense in flavors. Still some tannins that will become smoother with time. Fortunately, the sweetness of the fruit comes out in the finish and masks the important tannins. A wine to start drinking in 2004; has a life of at least 10 years. To enjoy with big roasts or elaborate dishes.
