Release Notes:
Valduero returns with a roar after a couple years’ absence from the US. This family-owned winery is one of top small producers in Ribera del Duero. Like Rioja, Ribera del Duero’s magic wines are made from the Tempranillo grape, which is called Tinto Fino in this part of Spain. Valduero’s Crianza is made from 100% Tempranillo grapes and is aged for 14 months in American oak barrels and another year and a half in bottle before release. This Crianza has recently received high marks from both Robert Parker and the Peñín Guide to Spanish Wine.
Tasting Notes:
A ruby colored wine with a big nose of fruit (blackberry and sour cherry), licorice, and toasted oak. Lavishly smooth on the palate
with berry fruit, vanilla, spice, cinnamon, and mint flavors. The tannin and acid balance, and nuanced finish show that this wine has the potential to age beautifully in a good cellar. Drink now to 2020 with grilled meat, roast beef, hard cheeses, and, especially, roasted lamb or lamb chops. If enjoyed now, please open and let breathe for at least 45 minutes before serving.
