A floral, grass and tropical fruit flavored Chilean Sauvignon Blanc - one of the best from South America!
|
Release Notes:
This Sauvignon Blanc was picked by hand from the end of March until the 14th of April. The grapes were then pressed as whole bunches before being fermented in stainless steel at a controlled temperature for three weeks. The wine was then left on lees for over two months before being filtered and bottled. As a result, Thierry Villard has produced a fresh, fruity Sauvignon that is one of the best in South America. Jancis Robinson has called Villard’s Sauvignon, “nothing like Sancerre, New Zealand or California Sauvignon Blanc, though with its combination of green zappiness and a slightly honeyed character perhaps more like the last.”
Tasting Notes:
The pale lemon color precedes a blend of fresh-cut grass, floral, citrus, peach and tropical fruit aromas. A medium-bodied wine with delicious passion fruit and citrus flavors in the mouth, melding nicely with the crisp acidity and followed by a nice, dry finish of lychees and green apples. Drink this wine now through 2008 as an aperitif or with fish, seafood, white meat, or salads.
