Release Notes:
Viña Sardasol Reserva is a blend of 50% Tempranillo, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Merlot, from vines that grew in chalky-clay, pebbly soils common to the area. Navarra’s climate benefits from the moderating influences of both the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, and is protected from France’s Mistral winds by the Pyrenees Mountains. These features allow the grapes to ripen fully before being harvested and sent to Virgen Blanca’s modern winemaking facilities. The resultant wine spends 18 months in a mixture of French and American oak, followed by another 18 months aging in bottles.
Tasting Notes:
Deep red color with hints of brick tile color. Gentle aromas of black fruit, oak, tobacco, leather and even coconut (from the American oak). Dry and concentrated with good spice, vanilla, and cherry fruit notes. Balanced and pleasant with a nice finish. Good with pork, beef stew, grilled meats, mature cheeses, and spicy Spanish cuisine. Can age for another 5 to 8 years.
