Release Notes:
Nero d'Avola is the best red grape of Sicily. Until the 1980s, it was blended into French and northern Italian wines to give them extra color, body, flavor and alcohol. Those attributes, dense color, rich fruit flavors and high acidity despite the island’s often stifling growing conditions, when properly tamed create some delicious easy-drinking reds.
Tasting Notes:
A deep ruby red colored wine. The nose is very attractive with berry and cherry fruit, exotic spice and herb notes. On the palate, blackberry, blueberry, plum and mulberry flavors are balanced by moderate acidity before a very round, fruity finish that closes with soft, well-integrated tannins. Enjoy now through 2013 with roasted or grilled meats, lamb, meatballs, pizza, pasta, swordfish and hard chesses.
